Jermaine Jackson gets emotional about dr. conard murray potential charges.
In the wake of news that Dr. Conrad Murray is expected to be charged with involuntary manslaughter charges on Monday, Reporter Mary Hart is exclusively with Michael Jackson's brother, Jermaine Jackson, who gets emotional when talking about the impending case.
"I just feel like it took so long to arrest this guy," says Jermaine of Michael's former personal physician who was with the King of Pop when he died last summer. "And to just [let this linger on, it is] putting daggers in our hearts and my mother's."
Jermaine says the Jackson family is furious with how the case is being handled, how long it's taken and that Dr. Murray will reportedly only face involuntary manslaughter charges, as opposed to second-degree murder, the most serious charge some legal observers believe was considered. If convicted of involuntary manslaughter, it is possible Murray will serve no time behind bars.
Asked if he could determine the charges filed in the case, Jermaine replies, "It could be first-degree murder, it could be whatever - Michael's not coming back, so where's the closure? Where is the closure?"
Jermaine fights back tears when he talks about his late brother. "I should have been smarter about what he administered to my brother outside a hospital setting," he says.
Ironically, developments with Dr. Murray happen as Michael's "We Are the World" was updated to benefit Haiti and as the film 'This Is It' has earned some $260 million worldwide.
"Michael was excited about his shows and he should still be here," says Jermaine.
